Gonadorelin

Factrel

Synthetic GnRH approved as a diagnostic — now a widely-compounded, physiologic alternative to hCG for TRT support.

Verdict — B · Viable

A well-tolerated, physiologic GnRH that has become a mainstream TRT-support option through compounding pharmacies — FDA precedent as a diagnostic and a benign safety profile. Held to a B by thin off-label outcome data, a demanding short half-life, and unverified gray-market sourcing. A reasonable hCG alternative obtained from a licensed compounder.

Overview

Gonadorelin is synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone, FDA-approved (Factrel) as a diagnostic agent for pituitary function. Because it stimulates the body's own LH/FSH release, it is now widely compounded and used off-label as a short-acting, physiologic alternative to hCG for maintaining testicular function during testosterone therapy. Its very short half-life makes it well-tolerated but demands frequent dosing, and the off-label TRT-support evidence is thinner than its long-standing diagnostic record.
